Sneak Peek: Lorelei's 1st Birthday

Sunday, March 25, 2012
A couple of weeks ago we finally broke down and got a good camera. We have been talking about it for a long time and kept saying that we didn't really need it yet. But I decided that I wanted to actually get good at taking pictures before I "need to." I had not had many excuses for taking pictures since we got the camera, but that changed this weekend. This afternoon we celebrated a sweet little girl who is turning one. I cannot believe how fast this past year has seems like just yesterday I was heading up to the hospital to see the sweet thing the morning she was born.

After sorting and editing a ridiculous number of pictures tonight, I am just going to post a little sneak peek. More details and pictures to come.

Happy Birthday Lorelei!

A fun, but full, weekend

We had a great weekend! We got to spend lots of time with family and friends and even got to do some things around the house. Friday night we went to the Jackson Center for "An Irish Evening," an Irish themed philanthropy event benefiting UCP (cerebral palsy), in honor of St. Patricks Day. We had a great time hanging out with friends, listening to Irish music and perusing the AWESOME silent auction.

Saturday we had brunch at Andrew's parents house with the East family. Donut, egg casserole and yogurt parfaits...yum. Saturday afternoon I began what I will call "Project Closet." We are finally getting around to doing something about the master closet in the house. For almost 2 years we have had one large closet with only wired hanging space and no dressers in the master bedroom. Needless to say the closet is a bit of a mess and still has boxes stacked which is rather embarrassing. We are working with a company in town to put in a more substantial organization system, but before we can really do that the closet as it currently stands needed some major TLC. We went through and pulled out a bunch of stuff to sale/donate and took all our winter clothes upstairs. Will save the plans for our new closet for another post. But I can't wait to see it all finished.

Saturday night we went over to Emily and Matt's for dessert and what may have been the most nerdy family game night ever. For dessert we had an assortment of "bundtlets" from Nothing Bundt Cakes in Jones Valley. We had chocolate turtle, lemon, and white chocolate raspberry. They were all really good and only $3.99 each. Highly recommend it.

Then we played a riveting game of "Strain" and "Pandemic." Both of these games are super nerdy. One of them even has the tag line: "a game of competitive bioengineering." Both games are actually really fun and don't really require significant science knowledge.

Sunday we went to church and had a picnic lunch and walk at the Green Mountain Nature Trail. We went and saw the covered bridge where we got engaged almost 5 years ago.

I finally got to pull out our Easter decor and give the house a spring facelift. I fell in love with these "Happy Easter" eggs at Pottery Barn last year.

Lastly, I got to do a little crafting. I made some topiaries for a sweet little girl's first birthday next weekend. The ribbon topiaries match a wreath I made a couple of weeks ago.
