Cayman Islands Part 1

We recently got back from five nights in the Caribbean. It was wonderful. We decided several months ago that we wanted to take a little trip away - somewhere warm, with ocean and sand, to relax before the summer got started. Summer is a really busy season for me at work - so it is actually not be best time for taking vacation.

I have some wonderful memories of traveling to the Cayman Islands as a child. Then about 6 years ago, Andrew and I traveled there for vacation with my grandmother. It really is paradise. We actually stayed at the same resort we stayed at 6 years ago, on the East End of the island, about 45 minutes outside of Georgetown. It is great because the East End is unpopulated and un-touristy, but we could hop in the car and go into Georgetown if we wanted to for shopping, eating and doing some of the touristy stuff.

Andrew got to drive on the "wrong side of the road." He did a great job with it...the only hard part was parking lots where there are no lanes.

The first night we went back to one of our favorite restaurants from 6 years ago called "Over the Edge." It is not a really nice place...more like a local dive. But the food is really good and it is one of the few places to eat near our resort on the east side of the island.

And they serve fried bread with your meal. Despite the name...it is amazing.

I will share more pictures from our week in the caymans over the next couple days. But this is how we spent many of our days...just sitting by the ocean.
