Ladies Bible Study Baby Shower

on
Thursday, July 19, 2012
A couple weeks ago our Ladies Bible Study group hosted a brunch baby shower for Kelli Bramblett. Precious Brayden Bramblett was born just a few weeks before, and since we didn't know if it was going to be a boy or a girl until delivery...we decided to wait until after he arrived to throw the shower. Plus we had the added benefit of getting to meet the little man at the shower. : )

Our sweet ladies bible study group

Kelli with her family

Kelli (and Brayden) got all kinds of cute things and lots of little boy outfits

Ann set such a pretty table

And we had all sorts of yummy breakfast items like yogurt parfaits, breads, breakfast casseroles and grits.

We had such a great time welcoming Brayden into the world. Congratulations Kelli!

Let Freedom Ring

I love the 4th of July! This year it fell in the middle of the week which was a bit awkward scheduling wise...but it meant that we got two weekends to celebrate.

The weekend before the 4th we went out to Flint River Baptist Church for the Freedom Celebration for music and fireworks. It was awesome.

Then on the actual 4th we had a party at our place with Andrew's family and the Guckenburgers. It has become a 4th of July tradition.

It would not be a party, or the 4th of July, without lots of yummy food. Ann got a boston butt and some ribs from a local meat market...it was really good. Then we grilled some corn and deviled some eggs.

The dessert table!

To drink we had all the usual suspects: soda, tea, and lemonade plus a sparkling cherry limeade that turned out great. It is a southern living recipe. I will post it as a separate blog tomorrow.

Fabulous Fox Theatre

on
Friday, July 6, 2012
Last weekend I got to go to Atlanta to see one of my favorite people. It was a fun girls weekend. We shopped, relaxed and got to see Norah Jones at the Fox Theatre. It was the perfect venue for the concert.

Only less than ideal part of the night was when the concert got out at the same exact time as two wedding receptions (one at the Fox and one across the street) which made it madness trying to get back to our car amidst thousands of people, horse and carriages and wedding parties.

It is awesome to have Atlanta (and Kristen) so close that we can do quick weekend trips.

Our first glimpses of the little guy/gal

We have had two ultrasounds so far. One at 5 weeks 5 days and another at 9 weeks 2 days. It is so neat to see how much things can change in four short weeks.

Here he/she is at 5 weeks

 and then at 9 weeks

We are in love already.

Even at 9 weeks, and only an inch from crown to rump (top to bottom), it looks like a baby. In the bottom picture the baby is head down and its little arms and legs were dancing around on the ultrasound. Little circle to the right is the baby's yolk sac (food source).

We don't expect to get another ultrasound until closer to 20 weeks. Thats the big ultrasound where they check all the anatomy and determine gender....and it can't come soon enough.
