Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas

on

We love Christmas. And it begins to look a lot like Christmas around our house on approximately November 1st each year. I am glad that Andrew is not a scrooge and goes along with my love for all things Christmas.

We took a big step this year and hired a company to put up outdoor christmas lights. We have been talking about it for several years and finally decided to take the leap. There is no way after all that one of us would dare get at the top of our roof to do them ourselves. We love the way they turned out...they are perfect. And the company threw in the lights for the trees by the font door at no charge.

I am trying my best to get gifts bought and wrapped before I get too uncomfortably pregnant. Sadie loves Christmas because she has tree skirts to nap on. She doesn't really mess with anything although she does get upset when Christmas presents take over her napping locations.

It was a strange feeling wrapping Perry's first present and writing "Love, Mom and Dad" on the card. I know he will likely not even be here for Christmas and will surely not care a thing about presents, but it is fun to see little boxes with his name on them under the tree.

Auburn v Georgia

Every year we try our best to get to the Auburn/Georgia football game (be it in Auburn or Athens). So many of my relatives are georgia grads and fans it is always a fun rivalry. Well this year we knew it was not going to be much of a game with the way our Tigers have been playing but we decided to head down to Auburn for the weekend to see family, our beloved alma mater and hopefully some cheap game tickets.

First stop is almost always Mike and Ed's BBQ. We love this place, especially Andrew.

Only place I know that serves sweet tea in a (clean) trashcan

We got to see lots of family while we were down in Auburn, including both of Andrew's grandmothers as well as his aunt and cousins. While we were visiting with "Mema", whose name is Reba Perry, we saw this on her wall. Such a sweet reminder of the family our little boy is named after.

All football season Kristen and I have been trying to get a picture with Aubie and finally succeeded at our last game. Figured out the secret is to be at the alumni tent right when it opens. I might be partial but I think we have the best mascot out there.

Night games in Jordan-Hare are beautiful. We found three tickets together from a sweet auburn fan on the streets. They were actually his daughters tickets, who couldn't be there because she was doing Hurricane Sandy relief up north. We were happy to pay for them...although thankful we did not have to pay anywhere close to face value.

We had a good time at the game regardless of the score (although you can see Andrew's opinion of our tigers football abilities in the picture below...). We agreed after that the loudest cheers that night were  for 1) the Alabama loss and 2) the bands. At one point a UGA majorette was juggling, yes juggling, three flaming batons...that was impressive.

Given our season, the stadium was impressively full...just shows how important the Auburn/Georgia rivalry is no matter the year. We didn't take a picture of the stadium at half-time...but there were not many folks left. We stayed until almost the 4th quarter and then beat the crowds (well what was left of them) and got some yummy Niffers for dinner.

Heres to hoping for a better year next year. War Eagle Always!

A princess turns 3

Our sweet niece, Kate, turned 3 last week. She is way into princesses these days so it was only fitting to have her birthday celebrations themed around princesses and pink.

She got lots of princess stuff

Kate got easily distracted by each present and Emily would have to remind her to come back and open another one. Luckily Ben and Paige were there to help with the opening as well.

Auburn at Vanderbilt

All in all we did pretty well getting to some football games this year. And we had a good time, despite how bad our tigers have played. We kept our expectations low and just enjoyed the atmosphere and watching some football.

Auburn played Vanderbilt in Nashville this year so we decided to make a day trip of it with the Towry's. We drove up and went to the game and then spent the rest of the day shopping at Opry Mills and walking around the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.

We found Aubie for a photo-op. Pretty sure we crashed a party we were not supposed to be at to get the picture...but no one caught us. : )

Rivertree Barn Dance

We love our church's tradition of a fall chili cookoff and church wide barn dance. We have so much fun spending time with our lifegroup and church family.

Our lifegroup has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year...eventually leading to the group splitting into 3 smaller groups a couple months back. Here is a look back at the 2011 barn dance:

Weekend of Baby Showers - Part 2

on
Friday, November 16, 2012
Two weekends ago we had two awesome showers. The sunday shower was hosted by several sweet Rivertree (church) ladies. Everything looked beautiful and the food was amazing. It was so fun to celebrate Perry's upcoming arrival with friends and family.

Look at these amazing cookies, custom made to match the invitation and Perry's nursery! They were almost too cute to eat....but we got over it. : )

Cute little auburn hat and socks...courtesy of some sweet Alabama fan friends

Monogrammed burp cloths. Notice all the outfits hanging on the fireplace which were unknowingly snatched from Perry's closet to be used as shower decor. Most of which were worn by Andrew when he was a baby...so sweet.

Awesome door sign...which will likely make a re-appearance on our hospital room door

We are so blessed and are being so spoiled by our family and friends. Perry is one loved little boy already.

Weekend of baby showers, part 1

This past weekend was full of baby. We had a baby shower on saturday and on sunday. Here's the recap from shower #1. My precious best friend Adrienne, and her family, hosted a shower for family and friends at the Interior Marketplace Cafe in Hampton Cove. Everything was beautiful and the food was amazing. I had so much fun getting to visit with everyone and baby Perry got so many awesome presents. Thank you Adrienne! It was fabulous!

The spread

Cutest cupcakes ever! Caramel apple and carrot cake. So so yummy!

The toppers were just too cute to eat (although Andrew ate one later and said it tasted good). I think I am going to modge podge the topper from mine and keep it.

At each place setting they had put a lollipop and a card for everyone to write down "wishes for baby." Can't wait to read them!

Looking at our 3d/4d ultrasound images of Perry...so so precious.

Grandmothers digging into the food

Sweet little bubble with little one's name on it. Can't wait to see him in it, and his cousins in their matching outfits this spring.

Sweet little blue bible from perry's great grandmother Johnston...who has been waiting an awful long time to have a little boy to give it to.

Love these people!
