Christmas: Moreland family

Tuesday late morning...

...after we opened presents at home we headed over to my Aunt Kay's house for Moreland family Christmas. It is always such a fun time. We do brunch food which is really yummy.

and desserts, for when we get hungry again after opening gifts

We joke that there is a Moreland gene allele that makes a person inherently good at wrapping presents and tying bows...it is either that or a lot of practice : )

No, Daddy did not really ask for silky santa boxers for Christmas...but he did say at one point that he "didn't care what he got, that he would be fine with underwear." Thats all it takes for us to get an idea and run with it...and he got several pairs of super stylish boxers.

You really just never know what you are about to unwrap with this family. Aunt Kay also mentioned a month or two ago that her beloved hen and rooster salt and pepper shakers had gotten broken. We took that as a request for multiple "pretty" back-up sets. You can find anything on the internet.

Daddy (soon to be known as Papaw) got Perry this awesome rocking horse. I know he will love playing with it in a little while...it rocks and rolls and even talks and wags its tail.

Merry Christmas from the Moreland family!

Christmas Morning

Tuesday morning...

was Christmas. We slept in a bit. We are trying to savor our last few days of full nights rest before Perry comes. Then we got up to see what Santa had brought us and we had picked out for each other.

Santa had been to visit and filled our stockings and had even brought Perry his very own baby Auburn tailgate chair. : )

Our stockings are always full of our favorite things and some random surprises. This is the contents of my stocking. I don't like to admit that I love those unnatural circus peanut candies...but I do. I also got some magazines to read while in the hospital, socks, itunes gift cards and a slinky.

Andrew got some candy, oreos, gum, a puzzle pen, amazon gift card, cologne, and some "boogie wipes" to go in his diaper bag.

Then we opened the rest of our presents. One of my big presents was a cricut machine. I borrowed a friend's cricut a month or two ago to make christmas present tags and some other craft projects for Perry's nursery and loved it. So excited to have one of my own!

Andrew got a "rock, paper, scissors, lizard, spock" mug. He was excited.

One of Andrew's big presents was a tailgate tent. It will come in handy for future Auburn trips as well as hanging out at the beach and in the backyard. That thing was not fun to wrap.

Even though Perry is not here yet, we could not resist getting him some Christmas presents. He is already one loved and spoiled little boy. : )

He got a soft stacking toy and blocks, slippers, a wooden nativity set, and several other fun things.

Last but not least we can't forget Sadie cat...she got some yummy treats and new catnip toys.

We stayed home and enjoyed Christmas morning until about 10 when it was time to head off to the next Christmas celebration at Aunt Kay's.

Christmas: Family game night

Sunday night...

...we went over to Andrew's parent's house for dinner and family game night. We love to play games as a family - new games, old games, any games really.

The Eckleys brought over a fun new game the kids got for Christmas called Headbanz (or something like that). It is a guessing game where you have to ask yes or no questions and try to guess the item on the card that is attached to your head. You wind up looking really silly...but that is half the fun.

After a couple rounds of headbanz the kids lost interest and the adults played a "throw back" game of masterpiece.

We are so grateful to live so close to our family so we can really "do life" together and get together for impromptu game nights!

Christmas: Grandma and the Dunnings

Sunday Morning and Afternoon...

We were so glad to find out that the Dunnings (my aunt, uncle and cousins) were coming out from Texas to spend Christmas in Huntsville again this year. They were able to join us for church the Sunday morning before Christmas and then come back to our house for some Christmas festivities.

and everyone

Due to being 38 weeks pregnant, I cheated and let HoneyBaked Ham do most of the cooking. Regardless the spread was great and yummy!

Present time!

The big present of the year: a Wii from Grandma : )

It was such a sweet time of family and fellowship!

Saturday night...

...we celebrated Christmas with Dad, Krista and Caroline. I didn't do a great job of taking pictures at this gathering...oops.

Me and Caroline

We also had an early birthday celebration. : ) 27 is not all that special or interesting, but I am super excited about what my 27th year has in store. I know it will be a world different than the last.

Happy Birthday Emily

Whew. We have had a busy, but very fun, couple of days celebrating Christmas. It will take several blog posts to get through it all...but it is so fun to look through the pictures and re-live the memories.

Friday Night...
...was Emily's birthday. We got together with Andrew's family for a yummy dinner at Ichiban, a local Japanese restaurant. It is always nice to take a moment to celebrate those birthdays that happen right around the holidays...they can sometimes get lost in the hustle and bustle of it all.

Happy Birthday Em!

Thanksgiving Weekend

on
Thursday, December 13, 2012
I did not do a very good job of taking pictures over Thanksgiving. I am going to have to get better at that once Perry is here...although it will be easier since we will have something cute to take pictures of. : ) Our sweet friend Kristen came to spend thanksgiving with us from Atlanta. We had a fun weekend of hanging out, shopping and family time.

Thanksgiving Eve we went over to my grandparents house for dinner. There were lots of family in town that we don't get to see very often, it was great to have almost the whole family together.

Thanksgiving morning we slept in and then had a yummy breakfast of pumpkin muffins and peppermint tea while we watched the Macy's parade.

Andrew had to work Thanksgiving Day until 2, so after the parade Kristen and I took lunch to my grandmother and ate with her and watched some of the annual dog show.

Then we headed out to Andrew's family for the afternoon and evening. Ann had this great idea to make a thanksgiving tree where we all wrote things we are thankful for on the paper leaves.

The only picture I remembered to take of people on Thanksgiving Day...

After looking through the Black Friday ads and opening times, we decided that if we were going to do it, to do it up right and head out late Thanksgiving night to start shopping. After all this was the last year of shopping without a baby in tow. It seems that stores open earlier and earlier every year...and I absolutely refuse to let shopping change my family celebration plans...but after we got home from Thanksgiving dinner Kristen and I changed into comfy clothes and headed out and shopped from about 10:30 pm until about 7 am.

Really the entire mall was open when we got there at about 3 am. We were hungry so we stopped at chick-fil-a for a late night snack/early breakfast...don't really know what you call that meal...but it was yummy.

We spent most of the rest of Black Friday resting and doing some online shopping in our PJs on the couch. Then we went to the Havoc hockey game that night....always entertaining.

The rest of the weekend was pretty low key. We did the afore mentioned family pictures and ate lots more food. Lastly we went and picked out an Angel from the Salvation Army Angel tree and bought the presents for the sweet little 3 year old girl. Kids are so much fun to buy for.

Countdown to Christmas - 12 Days
