The one with the 12 balloons

Last Wednesday we went down to Auburn for the celebration of Mema's life. It was such a sweet day and sweet service, despite the dreary weather. It has rained for days (no exaggeration there), but the rain thankfully let up for the 30 minutes of the service.

Anticipating a typical hot and sultry July day in Alabama, we made fans for the programs. Wound up without the need to fan ourselves, but they were cute and very southern.

When we got to Auburn, we went over to Aunt Susan's to visit with family. Andrew bonded with the papillions.

Yeah...it was gross outside.

Perry got to hang out with Aunt Lisa and GiGi

Mema was an amazing seamstress. Kate and Joy wore dresses made by their Great-Mema.

 She made the most beautiful quilts. We treasure our Mema-made quilts, it is an amazing legacy. She even made baby quilts for her current and future great grandchildren before she got sick. So it was only appropriate to have quilts on display at the front of the pavilion.

After the service, Gary brought out 12 helium balloons in Mema's favorite colors for the kiddos to release.

The Big Release:

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul,
'therefore I will hope in him.'"
Lamentations 3:22-24
