The one where BioTrain turned 5

Wednesday, August 7, 2013
Last week wrapped up another busy summer in HudsonAlpha Educational Outreach. Between an internship program, a high school month-long biotech academy, two week educator academy, four weeks of middle school camp, two day educator early adopter training, and about a dozen other miscellaneous things we stay incredibly busy in the summer.

Last Wednesday marked the end of our summer internship program, Biotrain. Not only that, it marked the end of the 5th year of Biotrain. And that is reason to have a party. Some of my co-workers have been planning a Biotrain 5 year anniversary party for the better part of the last year. It was so great to see so many interns from years past come back to see us and each other. It is incredible to see where they are now and what the future holds for them.

It was my scheduled day off...but since it was technically "open to the public" Perry and I went up to work for the afternoon. Perry was such a trooper considering we didn't leave there until about 3 (waaaay past his nap time). He was actually asleep in his stroller before we even left the building. It was like lifting dead weight getting him into his carseat. He loved all the attention and all the people though.

Whew. Now that summer is over we can move into an equally busy fall at work. We actually headed down to Mobile, AL yesterday to lead a 2 day teacher professional development later this week. All GREAT stuff (pun-intended).
