The one in Disneyland

Admist all the meetings and conference sessions, Kristen and I got to escape and check out Disneyland on Friday night. We bought tickets a while back for Mickey's Halloween Party which meant we could get in at 4 pm for the special event. We finished up with our last talk about 5:15 and walked (almost ran) the couple blocks to Disney.
We couldn't wait.

We didn't want to go all out on the halloween costume front because 1) We had very little room in our carry-on luggage and 2) We didn't want to look totally rediculous at the conference earlier in the day. So we decided to just wear street clothes that had a subtle nod to a disney princess. Can you figure out who we are? Kristen "is" Belle and I "am" Merida. It might help to know that she had a yellow bow in her hair and I had an orange one. We tried.

First Glimpse of Sleeping Beauty's Castle

Because it was the Halloween party, Disneyland stayed open until midnight...which we learned means that you cannot get in any more lines at midnight...and as long as you are in line when the clock strikes twelve, you can still ride.

Font gates all dressed up with pumpkins

The crowds were not too bad since they limit ticket sales for the parties, and there were so many little halloween extras...a special fireworks show, trick or treating, and some really awesome people watching since everyone was dressed up. You would find yourself walking past people and doing a double take to figure out if it was an actual disney character or another tourist dressed like one...some of the costumes were quite elaborate.

We rode pretty much everything we wanted to: space mountain (which had a really cool halloween twist), haunted mansion (that had been totally transformed into "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and IT WAS SPECTACULAR), star tours, indiana jones, jungle cruise, matterhorn bobsleds, it's a small world, Pooh, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Dumbo, Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear...yeah we had a busy night. And it was awesome. I think my favorite ride of the night was the Haunted Mansion hands down.

On the "Its a Small World" boat

A little later we passed back by It's A Small World after dark to see it all decorated for Halloween.
So Pretty.

We didn't stop too long to eat...except for these mickey shaped pumpkin beignets...omg they were good. And we got a little pixie dust in that we ordered 3 and they magically gave us 6. Score.

Nightmare before Christmas Decor and Pumpkin Beignets

We found Aladdin

And Mickey and Minnie

I love this makes me feel like a little kid again

Traditional "ears" picture...taken inside a we didn't actually buy the things

It was such a fun night. And we didn't regret it one bit when we fell into bed about 1 am to get back up at 6:30 am. Totally worth it.
