Counting Down to Disney

Sunday, March 16, 2014
We love Disney in our house. We love traveling to the Disney parks and loved our first experience with Disney Cruise Line. We have always said we don't want to be those people that have Disney be their only vacations (and we are holding to that) but we do love traveling disney. Which is good since we are Disney Vacation Club members.

And maybe it is brainwashing, but Perry is already beginning a love for a certain mouse and his friends. Some of his favorite books are mickey mouse clubhouse. And he smiles and laughs when it comes on TV.

We are headed back to Walt Disney World this fall with the Eckleys and so Emily and I are in "hard core" planning mode. You know, because you have to have your days planned out before making those coveted Advanced Dining Reservations at the magic 180 day mark. Disney trips are like catnip for type-A planners. There are so many fun things you can do and DIY to get ready for a big Disney trip.

Yesterday, while the boys (both of them) were napping, I made a little countdown to Disney printable. Printed it out on cardstock and stuck it in a 5x7 frame I had laying around. The number of days can then be easily added and changed with a dry-erase marker. And about 10 minutes later I had a cute dry-erase Disney countdown. I think it is going to find a home on a ledge in my office where it will make me smile and keep track of important deadlines.

Emily came over last week to plan out our days and meals and I think we have a good plan in place. We have very different planning styles. See exhibit A (Kelly on top, Emily on bottom). : )

But seriously, we can't wait to spend a week at Disney with family. It will be so fun.

It will be our first time staying on property in Disney Vacation Club Villas. I was able to get most of our stay moved from our home resort of Animal Kingdom Lodge to Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary which will be so nice to be within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom...especially since we will desperately need afternoon naps. The first few nights we will be at Animal Kingdom Lodge (at least as of now) and totally ok with it. Perry will love seeing the animals from our balcony and it will be nice to be more tucked away since it is a runDisney race weekend. Speaking of...Emily, Matt and either Andrew or I (probably not both since one of us will likely need to watch children) are going to run the Tower of Terror 10-miler. I guess we caught the runDisney bug after doing the princess half. Even Perry is signed up to run this time...for the 1-3 year old 100m dash. : )

Just 200-ish days to go!

Oh and here is the blank Disney Countdown printable (5x7) in case anyone would like to borrow it.
