He is Risen!

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!" Luke 24:5-6

Easter Sunday started out with an early morning run for Kristen and me. It was great to get up and get active and we even had a couple real life Easter bunny sightings while we were out.

Then we all got ready for church and took a few minutes to let P explore his Easter basket. It was filled with all sorts of fun treats: goldfish of course, but also some graham cracker goldfish, coloring book and crayons, bubbles, his Disney ABC book, a new snack container, a chocolate bunny, cute bandaids, a stuffed duck and some glowsticks. Perry's favorite part initially was the box of bandaids, so random.

Before church we also took our annual family Easter picture.

Church was awesome and totally packed. Having to pull every chair out from every church building and still having it be standing room only is a good problem to have when you are talking about Jesus. Grandma, Karen and Joanna came to church with us and then came back to our house for lunch afterwards. Joanna helped P experience the wonders of bubbles for the first time.

Had to get a selfie with grandma

Kristen and I spent much of Sunday afternoon in the kitchen. We didn't attempt anything too crazy just a simple bbq lunch after church and some deviled eggs, dirt cups and fruit salad for dinner later that night.

Kristen had to head back to Atlanta late afternoon. So glad she got to come spend the weekend with us! Meanwhile we went over to the Eckleys for Easter dinner after Andrew got off work. The dessert table looked fabulous. Emily made this amazing strawberry lemonade cake from the cover of Southern Living. The tomb cake is also her handiwork. I brought over some spring dirt cups with chocolate covered strawberries (dyed orange to look like carrots). Emily had the tables decorated so pretty and even made a separate kids table. I was super nervous when I saw she had Perry a place at the kids table, with a miniature chair (with no straps/harness). But he did great, and actually sat still and ate better than his older cousins. I think it helped us that he had no idea he was not strapped in and could get up if he wanted to.

It was an awesome Easter sunday worshipping our risen Savior and celebrating Him with family and friends.
