Under the Big Top

Yesterday afternoon Perry and I had a date to the circus while it was in town. We wish Andrew had been able to come with us but every showing was either when he was at work or after P's bedtime. I was a little (lot) apprehensive about taking Perry by myself and trying to keep him still for a couple hours in my lap. But we had some friends going and taking their kids so I decided to brave it.

And I am very glad I did. Perry did really well. And stayed in place for a 2.5 hour circus spectacular. The first 2/3 before intermission he sat well in my lap watching all the animals, noise and festivities while drinking milk and nibbling on goldfish. After a stretch break and intermission we went and joined the Partons a couple rows down for the rest. They were in a front row where the kids could stand and play at our feet which was good since they were all getting a bit wiggly.

Perry loved the animals but got a little bored during the people parts (trapeze artists, unicyclists, acrobats, etc). But then an elephant or horse or big cat would come out and regain his attention.

I don't think I have been to the circus since I was a kid. It was a lot of fun and really cool to see all the tricks. Hopefully Perry doesn't get used to seeing wild animals every weekend (zoo last weekend then the circus this weekend) or else he is going to be sorely disappointed in the weeks ahead. Although the next weekend promises to be full of NASA moonbuggys which will be equally cool.

Thanks for being such a good date today Perry! It sure was fun!
