BFF (and Perry) Trip to Disney World

One of my best friends, Adrienne, Perry and I spent last week playing and celebrating the holidays at Disney World. It was an amazing trip and we got to see and do so much. It was like Christmas was not over because it was still in full swing down there. There were decorated trees and gingerbread everywhere, christmas music being played, the characters were dressed up for the holidays, faux snow falling from the sky...and oh the Osborne family spectacle of dancing lights. It was just spectacular.

The crowds were high. We knew that going in, that it was the busiest week of the year. But we had a plan and stuck to it and made it out without standing in lines and getting to do everything we wanted. The longest line we stood in was probably 15-20 minutes to meet santa goofy and pluto at Animal Kingdom. And honestly part of our rationale there was that it was raining and the line queue was covered. I don't think I could handle those crowds in the summertime when it is also hot and steamy. But at Christmas, it is totally doable. The parks had extended hours to accommodate the crowds which meant some VERY early mornings. There is just no way to justify not being at rope drop. Those first two hours the park is open are precious in terms of getting stuff done with low crowds. So there were a couple 6 am bus rides to the Magic Kingdom (which was 5 am to our central time zone accustomed bodies). But we had a blast.

We stayed the first four nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge on our DVC points and then the very last night, which happened to be New Years Eve, at the Dolphin on Adrienne and Chad's hotel points. That worked out really well. We woke up to giraffes out our window several mornings and then had a perfect view from our 12th floor window of the Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Magic Kingdom New Years Eve fireworks shows....all while Perry was tucked in his crib asleep.

We bounced around between parks a fair amount so instead of doing this day by day, I'm going to take a couple posts and blog what we did in each park (and then in the resorts).

But for today, here is hands down one of my favorite pictures from the trip.
