"Mommy and Me" at Disney, day one

Saturday, June 25, 2016

The first full day of our mommy and me long weekend at Disney was spent hopping between Epcot and Hollywood Studios. We got up early and hit the busses to Epcot to be the first in line for the park. We were excited and ready to start the fun. We happened to be the only people on our bus that morning (sign you are up early) and had some nice one on one time with our driver. He was so sweet and when we parked at Epcot offered to get out and take pictures of us with the bus and then gave Perry a bunch of Disney bus trading cards. It was awesome to start the trip with some extra magic sent our way. Perry played with his new disney bus cards while we waited for the park to open.

Twas the season for the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival which meant the park was in full bloom and just beautiful. So many fun topiaries to see too!

We had a pretty short list of things to accomplish in our morning at Epcot. We wanted to meet Joy and Sadness (who just started meeting recently) so that was the first thing we did with very little wait. They were so cute!

Then we went and rode Nemo the ride. A few times. Quickly became Perry's favorite spot in all of Disney World. And I learned that if I let him into the Seas Pavilion that I was not going to get him out without tears. P also really liked the Shark playground.

We grabbed a snack and headed out the back of Epcot through the International Gateway and took the boat over to Hollywood Studios. And changed Perry's shirt to Jedi Mickey in preparation of a heavy dose of Star Wars fun in the afternoon.

Before the trip when we asked Perry who he was most excited to see he always said "Chewie" or "Chewbacca." When it was time he ran right up and gave the big furry guy a big hug.

We also got to meet Kylo Ren a little later on. Shhhh...Perry was convinced it was Darth Vader and I didn't have the heart to correct him. Both scary guys in black masks...close enough.

We rode Toy Story (I can't beat many people at that but I can at least beat a 3 year old), watched the Frozen Sing Along and had some lunch at the Studio Catering Company which had to be accompanied by a Darth Vader chocolate and peanut butter cupcake. Of course.

We escaped the crowds and heat to the baby care center for a little bit in the afternoon. Love those little havens in the parks where Perry can sit and watch disney TV in the air conditioning and I can charge phones and catch up on social media for a little bit.

Once Perry got bored of that he decided he wanted to go visit Olaf. We had a fun time meeting our favorite summer loving snowman.

Then we went and checked out Characterpalooza...the time each day at Hollywood Studios where random characters come out of a secret gate and meet. It is supposed to be "random" but it's not really. If you know what you are doing you will catch it every time. Who meets each day is totally random and a fun surprise. Among those that were available this day we met Robin Hood. And Aladdin and Jasmine.

By this point we had had a very full day. P was tired and we strolled around on the way to dinner and he fell fast asleep in his stroller. We already had dinner reservations at Minnie's seasonal dine at Hollywood & Vine that we had to keep so we went, P sleeping and all. I had a nice peaceful dinner and Perry woke up enough towards the end to get a bite to eat and meet Donald (though he was not feeling particularly social).

After dinner we called it a (very good) day and headed back to the hotel to bath and rest. We had another fun day in store!
